The Benetech GM650 is a handheld grain moisture meter that quickly measures moisture in 14 grain types, from wheat, paddy and corn to sesame and seed cotton, using dual metal probes and the resistance method, with 0.1 % resolution, a moisture limit alarm and voice prompts.
The Benetech GM650 is a portable grain moisture meter designed to measure the moisture content of many kinds of grain quickly, directly in the bulk. Two rod sensors (metal probes) are inserted into the material and the meter reads its moisture by the resistance method, sampling continuously and showing the result on a backlit LCD with 0.1 % resolution. The version supplied by Easy Test comes with a 60 cm probe.
Fourteen built-in grain modes (P0 – P13) cover paddy, wheat, corn, barley, rice, sorghum, fodder, rapeseed, seed melon, sesame, soymeal, soybean, peanut and seed cotton, each with its own measuring range between 7.5 % and 55 %. A moisture limit can be set from 10 % to 40 %; when a reading exceeds it, the meter announces the grain name and value, warns of high moisture or beeps, depending on the selected voice mode. After a comparison with the oven method, readings can be offset from -3 % to +5 % in 0.5 % steps.
Grain pressure affects probe readings: in grain stored in several layers the lower layers read higher, so corrections should be based on accumulated experience; below about 13 % moisture the effect is small. The meter does not identify the grain automatically, so the correct variety mode must be selected before measuring.
