The IRROMETER MLT measures soil moisture by interacting with the soil through a porous ceramic tip. As the soil dries, it pulls water out of the instrument and creates a vacuum that is read directly on the gauge – a direct, physical measurement of the same tension plant roots experience. It requires no electronics, batteries or calibration to operate, and because it measures soil water potential itself it is not affected by salinity.
The MLT is designed for conditions where tensions above 30 cb (kPa) are not expected and a compact size is needed, such as containers or pots in greenhouse applications. Its 0-40 cb (kPa) gauge suits coarse, sandy and potting-soil media, helping growers make informed irrigation scheduling decisions that improve yields and quality while reducing water, fertilizer, labor and energy costs.
The body is made of C.A.B., a durable plastic designed for outdoor use, fitted with a stainless-steel gauge whose membrane vent maintains accuracy during changing conditions without sacrificing protection.
