The Benetech GM2200 is a handheld non-contact infrared thermometer built for high-temperature work. It measures from 200 to 2200 °C (392 to 3992 °F) with a resolution of 0.1 °C or 0.1 °F, and its 80:1 distance-to-spot ratio lets the operator read small targets from a safe distance. The spectral response is 900 to 1700 nm and the response time is 500 ms (95 % response).
The instrument consists of an optics system, a photoelectric sensor, a signal amplifier, a signal processing circuit and an LCD: the optics collect the infrared energy emitted by the object and focus it onto the sensor, which converts it into an electrical signal that is processed and shown as a reading. Emissivity is adjustable from 0.10 to 1.00 (preset 0.95) so that the reading can be matched to the measured material.
A laser shows where the instrument is aimed, and the LCD shows the measuring reading and unit together with the laser, backlight, battery, scanning, data hold, data storage/read and high/low temperature alarm icons. The thermometer has an RS232 port for data export and is powered by a 9V alkaline battery or through its 9V 500mA DC input.
