The Wile 55 Coffee & Cocoa is a portable capacitive moisture meter made in Finland for quick field checks of coffee and cocoa beans. It has scales for green, parchment and roasted coffee and cocoa, 0.1 % resolution, ±0.5 % accuracy, automatic temperature compensation and a 9 V battery.
The Wile 55 Coffee & Cocoa is the coffee and cocoa version of Wile's best-selling Wile 55 tester, made in Finland by Farmcomp Oy. It is designed for quick and easy moisture measurements of coffee and cocoa beans in field conditions, so beans can be checked at the farm, at the buying point or in storage.
The meter works on the capacitive measuring principle with automatic temperature compensation. Separate scales cover green coffee (Arabica and Robusta) from 6 to 27 %, parchment coffee from 9 to 36 %, roasted coffee from 1 to 13 % and cocoa beans from 4 to 20 %. Readings are shown with a display resolution of 0.1 %, and accuracy is ±0.5 % depending on grain and moisture range.
Results appear in large digits on the LCD. An averaging function, a user-adjustable moisture offset calibration for each grain, automatic power-off and a low battery warning make routine checks simple. The meter runs on a 9 V battery and comes with a carrying case.
